The Upgrade Button on the Pricing Page Is Stuck Spinning — Nothing Happens

Last updated: May 14, 2026

This usually happens because your browser is blocking the payment popup. Gumloop opens Stripe checkout in a new window when you click an upgrade button — if your browser blocks that popup, the button just keeps spinning. Allowing popups for Gumloop or switching to Chrome fixes it.

Symptoms

  • You click an upgrade button (e.g. Select Pro) on the pricing page and the button shows a loading spinner indefinitely.
  • Nothing else happens — no new tab opens, no error message appears.
  • The page remains on the pricing screen.

Cause

When you click an upgrade button, Gumloop creates a Stripe checkout session and then opens the Stripe payment page in a new browser tab. Browsers with strict popup-blocking settings — most commonly Safari — block that new tab from opening. Since the checkout page never loads, the button stays in a loading state.

Ad-blockers and privacy extensions (like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger) can also block the payment-related request from going through, which causes the same symptom.

How to Fix It

Option 1: Allow Popups for Gumloop (Safari)

  1. Open gumloop.com/pricing in Safari.
  2. Click the menu icon on the left side of the address bar at the top of your browser tab — this opens the per-site settings for gumloop.com.
  3. Find the Pop-up Windows row.
  4. Click the dropdown next to it and select Allow.
  5. Click the upgrade button on the pricing page again.

Option 2: Use a Different Browser

If you'd rather not change Safari settings, open gumloop.com/pricing in Chrome or Firefox and click the upgrade button there. These browsers are less likely to block the Stripe checkout popup.

Option 3: Disable Ad-Blockers or Privacy Extensions

If you're using Chrome or Firefox and still seeing the spinner, check whether you have an ad-blocker or privacy extension active. These can block payment-related network requests.

  1. Temporarily disable any ad-blocker or privacy extension for the Gumloop tab.
  2. Reload the pricing page.
  3. Click the upgrade button again.

How Do I Know It Worked?

A new tab should open showing the Stripe checkout page where you can enter your payment details. The spinner on the pricing page button will stop once the checkout page opens.
